Hello everybody, I need your help. First look at the my laptops specification.

    ASUS M60J (bought in Sweden)
    Chipset: Intel PM55 rev.11
    Bios: American Megatrends Inc(1.0)
    Bios Version 210
    4GB DDR3 1066MHz ( 2slot or maybe 4slot?)

I need to uppgrade my ram to 8GB but I don't know if my Motherboard support 8 GB ram or not?

I have found that both CPU-Z and EVEREST shows that this laptop has 4 slot for memory upgrading and I don't know if it's true or not? If it's true then maybe it's better to upgrade ram to 6GB(3*2GB).

Please look at the screen shots and tell me what I have to do?

    Thank you :)

Pop off the bottom panel and check if theres 4 slots. If it has 4 slots, and 2 have 2gb in each, then all you need is a 2gbx2 kit.

    Thank yo J0ker! :)
No its just 2 slots and they are used 2*2GB(Samsung). Maybe the other 2 slots is under the keyboard

    What you think if I switch from 4GB 1066MHz(7.7.7.20) to 4GB 1333MHz(CL 9-9-9-24)?

It can't hurt, but I think the max speed your motherboard can take is 1066mhz. It will just downclock from 1333MHz to 1066MHz.

EDIT: it only has 2 slots: http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/compatible-memory-for/ASUS/M60J/list.html

Just go to Newegg and get 4GBx2 PC3 10600 DDR3.

i would trust CPU-Z.. however this is absurd.. if u have 4 slots , u should have 4 1GB sticks.. however , u have 2X2GB sticks.. i guess u have 2 slots so get a 4GBX2 kit.. depending on whether u have an i5 or i7 CPU , get 1066MHz or 1333Mhz respectively as i5 only supports till 1066Mhz RAM.

thank you j0ker and Sean :)
My CPU is i7 720qm and I think it can support up till 1333MHz. Somebody told that the other 2 slots of ram wich is empty mayby is under the keyboard but I don't know how to get there. I tried but I couldn't.

Now I'm thinking to go with 2*4GB 1333MHz. Which of them is better for me?

    OCZ 1333MHz Timing:9-9-9- 20
    CORSAIR 1333MHz Timing: 9-9-9- 24
    G.SKILL 1333MHz Timing: 9-9-9- 24

Which one is better 9.9.9.20 or 9.9.9.24? lower or higher

    Capacity : 8GB (2 x 4GB)4_. (x) > Compare

    Thanks again :)

The lower timing will be faser, but just barely, I'd go with the cheapest 1333mhz DDR3. You wont notice a difference.

The J0ker and Sean thanks again:smile:

I did my upgrade and it worked. :)
ASUS site must change the specifications for M60J because they say that max memory for M60J is 4GB but now it is 8GB :D

    Nickoo,

I would like to ask you how you make this upgrade, because I am trying to do this but windows told me that there is only 4096 MB of RAM after I put in 2x4GB (8GB KIT) PATRIOT DDR3 1333MHz CL9.

Do you have any idea what could be a problem?

I need more RAM for 3D and RAM upgrade is only my way.
    Also I have i7-820QM.

    Thanks for your help

Also I don´t understand why I can see 8 GB in BIOS and also in CPU-Z but in Windows I can see only 4GB.

I did quick search on this and I found this on another forum:
First thing that comes to my mind, have you tried setting the defaults in bios?

I've seen this happen before on other users but never bothered to hang around until solution was found :D I remember someone fixed it with windows reinstall but I would believe some simpler solution is also available.

But I will check reactivation of windows it should help also...

Go to test and let you know
