I have ASUS M51TR -laptop which works fine except for speakers. This laptop seems to think that headphones are plugged in all the time and when I actually plug them I get sound out. Speakers only work in bios where this laptop plays a little fanfare but otherwise they remain silent.

Realtek's control panel indeed shows that headphones are plugged in so maybe the headphone-jack is the problem? What methods would you suggest to enable speakers again? I tried poking it with a needle and also tried plugging headphones in and out with force but no luck.

It would probably be the best way to dissassemble the laptop and take closer look, but if there are other ways it would be great.

Yes, the headphone jack is the problem. It needs to be replaced.

I found a way solve this problem with Regedit. Openeded it up searched for "ForceDisableJD". It was set to "00", chaning it to "FF" and rebooting made speakers/headphones work as they should. Without headphones speakers are on and when plugged headphones they are off.
