I just upgrade my ASUS S96J with a 1GB module. It had 1 GB standard and now I addes one. But when I start up the bios won't load. I hear the HD, the CD-rom and see the start up LED's, but nothing on screen.

When i remove the new module, everything i fine again.

I thought it could be a broken module, so I replaced the original one with the new one, and then everything worked fine.

The notebook can have 2 GB of RAM.

One more thing I found out: the computer also won't boot with one module in the second slot, so maybe it's something with the slot, or maybe I have to activate the slot or something.

The Bios is the newest version i could find; 0901.

Could be a slot issue. You could exchange it or try running memtest on the new one.

the new one is working. So that isn't the problem. What are common slot problems/solutions?
