    Hi There!

I have a Asus V1J laptop which was working fine. But yesterday, was overheated and stop working. My question is: What is standard temperature of CPU during normal laptop operations?(surfing the net, working in office, etc.)

    Thx & cheerio !

The standard operating temperature for Core 2 Duo's are usually between 40-50C give or take a few degrees.

I've even seen some go up to as much as 55C

My CPU temp was 71 C. So I already contacted ASUS for service support!
    Thank You!

No problem, 71 C is pretty hot for just doing basic tasks, good idea contacting support I hope they can help you out.

Then you should definitely contact tech support. I used a 1.83 GHZ SZ once and it was cool to touch. I thought you had something like a T7600 C2D

Actually, 50-65 is average temperature, and on such a thin model as the V1, its to be expected. When under heavy use, expect it to go to at least 70-80. The peak tolerable temperature is over 100 degrees, as that is when the CPU will turn itself off to prevent damage.
