I bought an ASUS and had a friend upgrade the hard drive to a solid state. Worked for months and all of the sudden I had a blank screen, no light what so ever, but had power lights. I plugged in an HDMI cable and still nothing when I turned it on.
I left it alone for a while, and decided to try it a week later. All of the sudden it came on, as if nothing is wrong. I restarted several times and it worked fine. Next day, nothing again.
I called ASUS, and they said that it could be the solid state, and wanted me to buy the restore disc online. Does anyone know what this problem might be? Should I swap back to the old hard drive and restore with disc?

Yes please post what kind of SSD it is and the model number of the ASUS laptop.

The next time it happens, try taking out the battery and unplugging AC power for a minute. Then try powering it back on and see if it works normally.
