    Hi everyone

i was just wondering, i happened to take a look inside my ASUS z71v Notebook, and i realized that the 6600go video card is "slotted" in ! like memory !! it can actually be removed because it is not soldered!! no what i mean?

anyway, does this mean that it might be upgradable in the future?? is it MXM or something?? im clueless !

    Thanks !

It's modular so you CAN remove it!

However, the hard part is to find something that not only fits, but also works, meaning that it won't fry the motherboard/overheat/explode/etc.

To find one that can replace it, you'll need to bug ASUS to make one that works in the z71v but that won't happen :(

right now MXM is hard to find. And we have the small form factor (so if you got a 6800 ultra MXM, you'd hover over the chipset. SO although it is conceievable possible, you would have heat issues. Perhaps the next generation (maybe 7600go or 7700go) will be the small form factor MXM, so then you can upgrade.
