    Hey,

I need to get some files off my old dead hard drive but i just realized that my old hard drive was ATA and not SATA. Is there any difference? and will the ATA hard drive be compatible with an SATA external enclosure? Thanks!

Nope. The two connectors are totally different.
Best get an ATA enclosure, or a USB to IDE cable.

You may want to check your area with the yellow pages or google maps to find computer businesses nearby.
SInce you are in Canada, the main places to get online parts are Tiger Direct and NZXT, so if you cant find the part, I would look on their sites for the adaptor.
I am sure that even a small decent computer shop will have a few of them for sale. They are very handy, and I find that it was a good purchase.
