Hi, always i have some stupid question:
on my "new" laptop, in the user manual, it is wrote that HD does work at ULTRA ATA/100. Now, i have downloaded and i have installed a simple hardware diagnostic utility that say my HD works at ULTRA ATA/66.
I think this HD is not its original installed by firm then it was installed later.
Does the ATA bus on motherboard work at 66 or 100?

Nec Versa Daylite, no very diffused model............... however i think there is an error on the user manual, it should be 66 no 100.

The laptop might be 100 capable, but only have a 66 drive in it. iirc, ata-66, 100, 133 were most interchangeable and compatible, they would just slow down to match the slower piece of hardware. It's possible you might have to enable udma5 in the driver and/or bios, but that'd be strange. That setting shouldn't change on its own.

sidenote: that laptop must be really old. Like, 2003-ish at latest.
