Hey. What would be the max resolution that I would be able to play HalfLife 2: Episode 2 with high settings and great fps with an ATI Radeon Mobility 3650 512MB? I need to know this in order to decide which resolution to buy for a new laptop.

Edit - I guess this can apply to an 8600M GT as well, considering they're in the same price range.

It depends on the laptop. If the laptop can support 1920x1200 resolution, I cant see it not being able to play at that resolution.
Your best resolution will probably be 1440x900 since it is a good size to play games. It is hard to see things when you game at 1920x1200 or so.
The 3650 is a powerful card so it shouldnt have any problem playing the games you want to.

IMO go with the WUXGA 1920x1200, because while it may be the very edge of perofrmance for HL2-EP2, I think for other titles, you'd be working to try and play at 1440x900.

So if you get the WUXGA you can run a 4:1 pixel ratio without interpolation and run 960x600 instead and have a nice crisp image running smoothly than trying to interpolate a lower resolution image on the 1440x900 screen.

As someone with an HD2600-GDDR3 and a 14x9 LCD, I can tell you, you'll have trouble playing games like Crysis and even COD4 at full res anywhere near high settings, and I'd prefer the option to play a reasonable 960x600 and keep some thing on rather than disable a bunch of features and/or play with interpolation ontop of everything else.
