I am looking at buying a new laptop for uni on which i will mainly be using the internet and IMing etc. but will play some games from time to time, i was wondering what people thought about this Graphics Card?

The ATI Radeon X2300 supporting 512MB HyperMemory, is it a good graphics card or will it have some trouble supporting some games etc.

    Any advice appreciated

    Cheers

It is weaker then an x1400 or go7400. I think it is only slighty better then an x1300 so its an low end card. Try to avoid it if you can. Go for a geforce 8400M GS minimum or if last generation try to get a go7600. The x2300 is not a directx10 card and wont make you happy because even at directx9 its performance is not good.

Yeah plus if you use Hypermemory to get the performance up it could possibly backfire (your performance could get worse!). Also hypermemory/turbocache probably eats up batteries.

Your performance will be worse no doubt! No, will not eat up battery more than anything else.

Plus hypermemory means that 256mb's is dedicated and 256mb's is borrowed.

So would i be better getting one of these graphics cards for performance wise:

ATI Radeon Xpress 1250M 128MB integrated
    ATI X1250 Integrated Graphics
    Intel GMA 950

    Would these be better choices?

No, it a low-end card, so it's either 64 or 128 MB dedicated, anything else on the top of that is shared.

These are all integrated, so the X2300 will be better then them but as posted is not for gaming.

Fill out the FAQ in the "what to buy section" and we will try to find a notebook for you.

the x2300 is serious bottom barrel for gaming. integrated shouldn't even be considered (if you know you want to game in advance).

    8400m gs, 8400m gt, 8600m gs, 8600m gt

    consider those in that order.

256 megs of vram is enough for any of those cards.

ati equivalent is hd 2400, hd 2400 xt, hd 2600, hd 2600 xt.

if the "hd" moniker is replaced with an "x" ie. x2300, x2500, do NOT get that card.
