    Hi everyone ......

I have something wired in my XPS M1530 ... I wanted to check if my laptop will run Bioshock perfectly or not so i tested it in www.systemrequirementslab.com which gave me fine results :) ..... but it says that I have 1.7GB of Video Ram  ??!!!

    Isn't 8600GT have a dedicated Memory with 256MB or what ?!

    Hi.

It is just means it can share some of your system memory upto 1.7GB, But it will only use it if it needs it.

    Regards

    John.

    Hi.

You system memory is considerably slower than the memory on your graphics card, so it`s benefit is questionable.

I suppose if a game required 512 and you only had 256, The game would run but, how fast it would be is anybody's guess.

    Regards

    John.

Video memory will only help in higher resolutions.
The 8600M GT in your laptop is more than enough for Bioshock to run even at high settings.

I belive it is called TurboMemory.

You can play Bioshock probably at high settings, as eleron911 said.

turbo memory is an intel thing. It is called turbocache for the gpu ;)

Your 8600Gt should have no problem plying bioshock at medium to high settings.
