I have a new XPS M1530 with Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 CPU.
What I want to ask:
1. Does my CPU support Intel Turbo Memory?
2. If Yes, how to activate it? If no, how to get it? And should I upgrade my CPU to get it?
3. What is actually Intel Turbo Memory? I just read that on Intel demo on IDF Forum on Taiwan a few times ago, a notebook with this feature activated could entering the OS without boot up.
Thank you very much.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
1) I think Turbo Memory support is dependent on your chipset and not your processor. That being said, all M1530s, regardless of processor, are built on a 965PM/GM chipset and will support Turbo Memory.
2) It's software activated and only works under Vista. I believe you can use it on various forms of flash memory and not just on Turbo Memory specific flash modules.
3) It's essentially extra memory. It only helps when you have a relatively low amount of memory in which case it's much more convenient to upgrade your memory in the first place. In other words it's pretty much useless and you shouldn't bother with it.
It will NOT let your computer start without going through the typical start-up problem. -
Turbo Memory 1.0 is pretty much useless if you have 2gb of ram.
TM 2.0, now that`s another story... -

What is tm 2.0? Never heard about a new revision of turbo memory...

if i'm not mistaken... intel turbo memory uses a flash chip thats inside the laptop. it's something that either comes with or without the laptop.

TurboMemory2 or Robson2 would be what's coming on the Montevina laptops, and it's supposed to greatly improve the speed and size (4GB?) of the Robson card.
It will still depend on the speed of the HDD you hook it up to, but it should benefit all magnetic drives and only be rendered useless by the fastest of SSDs.
Intel PR stuff on standard Robson / TM;

I just wish they'd update the card so Robson1 users could get faster/larger NAND chips.
Currently limited to about 45MB/s, would be nice having 1-2GB @ twice that speed. R2 is supposed to go mid-high 100MB/s. -
Will Windows 32bit utilize an extra 2Gb or Turbo Memory2.0, even if the system has exceeded the 3Gb limit of RAM?
If so... Then would we be seeing any good performance increases? lol
