Or, should I get the Hitachi 7k500? I have read so many reviews here that I don't think I can go wrong with either. I just thought I would mention it on here in case somebody could mention something I have overlooked. Thanks!

I suppose you don't need the extra space? Would the 7k500 be better value?

No, I would say 250gb would be plenty of space.

CostCentral seems to be selling a 7k500 320gb for roughly around the same cost as the WD3200BEKT, but I have never done business with them before so I'm not so sure about them.

Yeah, I've read that. That's why I'm having trouble deciding. So many variables.

Fastest hard drive at the moment is 500GB Scorpio Black.

There is probably a 250GB Scorpio Black single platter out there. Should be a very good hard drive.

The 250GB Hitachi 7K500 would also be good, just a little slower.

You could also consider the Seagate Momentus XT 250GB. With 4GB SSD cache it launches applications and boots as fast as SSD.

Hey thanks for the knowledge fellas. I think I am probably going to end up with the 7k500, but the Seagate Momentus XT sounds intriguing.

the momentus gives almost SSD boot performance and is certainlyt faster than hard drives in real life so its an excellent option..

I was seriously considering the Momentus, but money is tight right now. I just snagged a good deal on an 7k500.

Do you know if Hitachi is coming out with a comparable hybrid drive to the Momentus any time soon?

i don't believe so... Hitachi hasn't come out with any new hard drive since the 7K500... i guess something should come but haven't heard anything at all.
