Ok, today I booted up my laptop today, before anything came up, there was a beep and it said something like "the ac adapter configuration is not recognized, press f1 to continue, bla bla bla" I unplugged the adapter, rebooted, it worked fine. I plugged it back in, rebooted, and got the error again. I unplugged the AC adapter from the wall, waited 2 or 3 minutes, plugged it back in to both the wall and the computer, and rebooted. I didn't get the error message the last time, but is this something I should worry about?

I don't think I have ever heard of that message before.
Try unplugging the laptop and taking the battery out. Then, press the power button a couple of times to drain any excess electricity that is running around in there. That should be done once in a while anyway. -
Are You by any chance plugging it to the wall before you plug it in your laptop?
If that is it, the correct way to power any nothebook AC Adapter is to first plug it in the laptop/notebook then plug the adapter in the AC outlet.
The reason for this is that those adapter plugged in without any load can have their voltage output higher then what is written on their attached decal. These type of adapter are switching type adapter and some of them can be damaged or worts can damage your laptop if you do not follow this procedure (Should be clearly written in your laptop's User Guide).

Dear Frenchnew.
Is there any way of fixing this problem?
My latop is Dell vostro1500 and it has the same problem. Mine is still under warranty. If it is not covered, where and how much will it cost me to fix it?
Thanks alot!! -
nghiemt, this thread is quite old, but I can help you out.
Simply remove your ac power adaptor from your laptop. Than blow into the ac port, to remove any dust which may have accumulated. Do the same for the plug which fits into the jack on the computer.
Then plug back in, and it should work fine.
If you cannot get the system to work, then I would contact Dell for a replacement AC adaptor.
