I have an acer aspire 3634WLMi (nothing flash but does the jobs i need it to do) but now it is running really slow after upgrading internet protection software to NIS2011 which needs 512RAM. Thought it would be ok as laptop is meant to have 512mb RAM, but in the system properties window it is only showing 448 usable RAM. not much of a techy myself but do know that is not going to work properly!!! I have found a 1GB RAM stick on the internet for a reasonable price and have seen posts on other sites, whilst doing my research, saying I can use both existing and new alongside each other to speed things back up.. my question is more a practical one for any laptop repair people out there :) ......... where is the RAM memory stored and is it easy to add the new RAM stick ???? is there an access panel that unsrews rather than taking the laptop apart ?? any help would be much appreciated, thanks. :D

In no way shape or form is NIS2011 an 'upgrade'.

    Uninstall it and use MSE.

Well an upgrade from no AV? Of course Norton still hoses your internet so being an upgrade is debatable..
