I bought a Acer 6930 yesterday with these specs
P7350
4GB
9600M GS 512mb
1x 320GB
bluray reader
And i was wondering what my future upgrade options are (it's more than sufficient now)
CPU -- > Centrino 2 platform, PM45-ICH9 .
I guess i can install any dualcore with the right package and maybe even the new quadcore series (it seems there is no bios support now). I ran prime and intelburntest today and neither could get the cpu 65+°c ( tjmax 85, might be 90?). I think the hsf setup can handle any dualcore and maybe even quads ?
GFX --> MXM II slot, any future MXM II card with the right bios ? Furmark can't push my 9600M GS above 70°c so heat shouldn't be a problem.
Ram -- > PM45 supports 8gb so i should be able to upgrade to 8gb in the future.
HDD --> Now i have 1X 320mb sata 2.5inch and a aditional 2.5 inch bay ( there is a second hdd installed in some 6930 series). I removed the cover and i found the Sata-connector but it seems i need another cover to install a second drive. Can i order this cover anywhere? If not, i'll have to improvise and modify the existing cover a bit. I plan to install a SDD when i get the money ( i'm broke now)
Any comments on my ideas ?

An Socket P CPU upto the T9800 will work, provided that the CPU is supported by the BIOS. Quad-Cores will not work, because of motherboard incompatibility.
The fastest MXM II GPU I know is the 9650M GT. Upgrading the GPU is notebooks is pointless, since the price is high and the performance increase is comparatively low.
RAM, well 8gig will work, provided there is BIOS support.
For the HDD, you might need an additional caddy. Check out ebay, zandparts, notebooksolutions or contact your acer reseller. -
Gpu upgrade --> not planned now, but the option is available and there will be better mxm2 card 2 years from now, i just wanted to know if my idea was right !
I found the fru list and i need an other cover for the second hdd, i think i'll be able to locate it now i have the right parts number
