Hey there a few thanks to this forums members really, have been looking into upgrading my Acer Aspire 7720g's video card for quite some time now but never actually put action to it. Until i started reading this forum and found ll the information i needed. Once i felt that i knew enough i bought a Nvidia 9600m GT 512mb and began.

It wasn't too complicated really i expected a few hitches though which i got when the original heat sink wouldn't fit, which ended up having corners cut and filed down to allow the heat sink to sit flush on top of the GPU not raised up because off the extra transistors or what not. The other hitch was once i reassembled it, booted up windows and downloaded the latest drivers, I apparently didn't have a graphics card compatilbe with those drivers. That stumped be so i tried forcing the hardware to use the 9600m gt drivers and it worked flawlessly with games but i was missing the Nvidia Control Panel, so i then had to enter the hardware ID into the graphics drivers ".Inf" files. I have attached the modded .infs to this post but they are only for the notebook 186.81 xp x64 drivers. I hope this will help someone in the future.
