All your processor cache are belong to me.

Wait QX9200 is socket M or is Core Temp wrong? Google and your CPU-Z is showing it as socket P.

It's a quirk of real temp, it's socket P. My temps are actually 5C lower as Tjunc is 100 not 105.

AFAIK the 8935G, the larger brother of this machine does not work with the Q9200 so I am very pleased it has.

^ yes that is pretty ridiculous! did you even try increasing voltage? :p Maybe you got an extremely lucky CPU...

try 1.3v and see if you can get to 4ghz

Also I wanted to ask, where is that ati 5650 coming from?

Ah yes, well actually I need to find someone with an integrated graphics/mxm setup to repair the card *whitles* its from a user in canada who found it on ebay.

The voltage is lower than stock but I only tested it with OCCT.

Typical my SSD decided today was a good day to die :(

Have popped in the original boot drive and its all working. Will have to send it back to the shop.

As for the CPU I will test how far it will go at stock voltage.

It's either my cooling or the power circuitry holding me back, I had to bump it up to 1.13v to get it prime95 stable at 3.06ghz. Any further and the system shut itself off.

Well there are a couple of issues AFAIK.

Firstly there are two motherboards, one that takes dual and one that takes quad (different power circuitry) and the one that even takes quads wont take any quad apart from the q9000.

    You will need 3 things:

    Q9200
    Quad core heatsink
    120W or higher power brick

I have not quite got the 460M to work, but you fit it by moving some parts, its all in the MXM thread. I am trying to get hold of a 5850/5870 to see if I can get it working.

14.8V (the standard one included on the quad core models), 2-3 hours if you turn brightness down.

(please note I am running a 1920x1080 screen, it consumes more power than the standard model)

They will work fine, the internals step the input voltage to the correct level.

Just the battery life will be pretty poor with the 10.8v. Quads are more hungry than the dual, even compared to the x9100.

That depends on the graphics and your laptops EC/Bios or something, I had a laptop which specifically did not support EIST on an e8235 so it would not run on battery whatsoever with graphics as low powered as the 8700m GT.

That said, you can always adjust the voltage and clocks of a q9200 so it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes but there is twice as much silicon and it never shuts off unlike the core i series.

So given the same voltage (they only go down to 1.05v at the lowest) it will consume much more power.

But what can I do to make my laptop motherbord be capable with 14.8v battery??
And one more question, 7738 works with 8 gb ram??

    Not tried 8GB of ram.

There are only two 7738G motherboards.

One with 3g/tv tuner and one without. Both of which came with quad setups which use the 14.8v battery as standard.

So you should be able to use the 14.8V battery.

Hm... If I understand you correctly, dual core shouldn't work with 14.8v, but quad on the same board would work, right?
Oh, if you need 3g or tv you can install THIS))

I used a 14.8v battery with my 6935G dual core setup and there are no physical differences between quad 7738G and dual 7738G so therefore its safe to assume you can use a 14.8v batttery in yours with the dual core.

Are you using a tall 1TB drive in your second bay?

Btw are you using these modules?

Kingston hyper-X, these are the only 5-5-5-15 modules I know of.

But why on ebay everywhere you can this "14.8V( not fit for 11.1V )"?

No, I use this --> WD Scorpio Blue 1 TB (WD10TPVT) in main bay, as you know it's not suit to second bay space).

Absolutely!) I think, they are unique))

Because they are ebay sellers and don't know anything.

The battery is within the listed input range of your DC in at 19v so its fine.

The power circuitry is fixed if you have a quad or not so it wont make a difference to what batteries you can use.

Oh and I can't put in a second pci express slot, I have a larger graphics card in the way lol.

No since the aspect ratio is wrong, its like trying to fit a square into a rectangular hole that is narrower.

Also that monitor looks to be 1600x900 not 1920x1080, a mistake in the listing.

Do I know? Never tried, but the Q9200 and Q9000 both do so I don't see why not.

Though I would avoid the Q9100 if possible, I don't think they are unlocked and there are quite a few early samples around.

Thank you for your reply Meaker. I was able to get Q9100 for a good price. And it works good but i have an interesting problem. My 7738g was equipped with T6600 and 10.8V battery, since i changed the CPU to Q9100 the laptop is unable to charge the battery. ( I have changed the PSU to 120W) is it possible that i need the 14.8V battery or the problem lies somewere else ?

Strange, possibly as the quad core models shipped with the higher voltage batteries, i'd give it a go because the upgrade is worth it.

BTW while the Q9100 is locked (IIRC) you can use the IDA mode trick to get another multiplier (or extra 266mhz).
