Hi I recently wrote a thread to see whether or not my Acer 8930 could handle an Intel x9100 cpu, I no its the rght chipset and socket ect but people said that it would be way to hot for my laptop.
Looking at the new Acer 8930 with quad core Q9000 it has the same thermal heat as a X9100, does this mean that the new Acer with Q9000 uses a better heatsink and fan or are they all standard in the Acer 8930's.
    Really would appreciate any help,

Just another quick thought, my cpu which is p8600 (25w) when gaming is very low temps around 11oC and only 3oC on normal use (checked with hwmonitor) but my gpu when gaming is around 91oC

The Acer Gemstone Blue CPU thermal sensors are screwed up. I once had my CPUs idling at -97 C on air cooling .

Your sensors are mos def wrong. It's impossible for your CPU to have such low temps, unless you're sitting in an icebox.

The last time I checked out the 8930G (about a month ago), it had a new QC motherboard, but no new heatsink. So they probably used the same one.

The X9100 should be fine with the stock heatsink. You can't overclock the X9100, so you can try undervolting it as much as possible :p
