Anyone know if the Acer 8930G can take more than 4GB RAM? I'm running Windows 7 64bit.
    Thanks!

it will be 8GB... PM45 chipset supports 8GB RAM max and the acer should have no problems at all using 8GB... unlike the 965 series chipset , 8GB is garunteeed to work... anyways , OP do u really need more than 4GB? 8GB is really not that much needed unless u use RAM intensive apps.

Can you give me a link where you got the info that this Acer model would support 8GB? Or have you done the upgrade personally? If so how about a screen shot? I know many who would love to have a concrete proof of 8GB in this model.

    cheers ...

well i don't but i do know according to intel 8GB will work.. if u want more confirmation , go on Acer forum... trust me , no manufactuer is stupid enough to disable more RAM support for ur laptop... it would make them loose money when they sell lol.. but 8GB should really work.

I am sure that 8GB can be supported on many Acer models. We are talking about OP specific 8930G model here. Can you link to the Acer forum posts that confirm this 8930G model supporting 8GB?

I am also sure that manufacturers are not stupid enough to let users run amok with their systems. They rather sell newer models than allowing consumers to expand easily on the old ones ;) Better lose some $ in extra ram and get consumers to shell out $$$ for new models!

    cheers ...

Companies limit memory all the time... search the forum (off the top of my head, I recall issues with the Dell M1330 and M1530), only after certain BIOS updates do memory limits change, which shows that there is some sort of control that companies can exert.

Well there wasn't a limit.. the limit was set by Chipset.. 4GB was max but they tried 6GB and 8GB which didn't work sometimes..
