My laptop's screen just won't turn back on after you restart or when leave the laptop so the display turns off (but the laptop is still running) and sometimes even just turning it off. The fans are running and the lights on my CineDash and stuff still turn on but my display won't. Fn + F6 wont do anything either.
This leaves me to force power off the laptop, unplug it, take out the battery and put it back in. Then it will start up.
I don't think it's a driver issue as I've tried ever driver under the sun. And always the same issue.

This type of a behavior is usually a result of a driver error, did you really try all the driver catagories ? Because there are quite a few of them, several hundred releases and about 4 series: 15x.xx, 16x.xx, 17x.xx and the latest 18x.xx.
If not drivers, then IMO the next most likely cause would be some Acer utility gone bad, finally it could even be a Windows power management problem. But I hardly think it is a hardware problem (since it works for a cold boot) -
Anyone else?

Qaz,
when the system is running with a black screen, plug in an external screen. Let us know if anything comes up.
If nothing comes up, its most likely a connection issue.
I have had similar problems in the past, and it was related to my standby button on my old inspiron 8500.
The standby switch was activated when the lid would press down on the button. The problem was, that after a few years of use the button became super sensitive. If I lowered the screen, the system would try to enter standby. When I would open the screen the system would stay hung in the same way you are explaining.
Your Acer is like 7 years newer, but it may use the same standby switch design my i8500 used. The only way to know is taking the system apart and checking for connectivity.
I fixed mine by physically removing the switch.

Ouch, doubt I'll go to that conclusion to solve my problem. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I think I'll just ask for a replacement.
Acer 8930G screen won't start up after restarting, or hibernating
