I'm working on an Acer Aspire 3690 laptop, and when I try to turn it on, the laptop powers on for a few seconds, then shuts off. I tried removing devices one by one until the laptop stopped shutting off by itself. As long as the processor is removed, the laptop stays running. Does this sound like a bad processor?

is it get hot is the fan spin okay is they any dust in it?
Thermal issues or fan sensor -
Yes, the fan spins. I actually cleaned all the dust out of the laptop in order to make sure it wasn't getting too hot. It just won't stay on long enough to get warm.
Thanks for your help,

Do you remove the fan when you clean it out?
Heat sink include? if so did you replace the terminal pasted on cpu
and doblue check the wires -
The previous owner had taken the whole laptop apart when it stopped working. I don't know their thinking behind it. When I put it back together, I was pretty sure I checked everything, but since I was tired when I did it, I'm going to check again.

I took a closer look at the inside of the laptop, and I found that the processor die was cracked. Guess that would do it, wouldn't it?
