    Hello,
I had a acer aspire 5742g for one year. The specs are:

    CPU: Intel Core i5-460M
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 420M 1G
    RAM: 4GB
    HDD: 640GB

I mostly play games like MaxPayne 3, GTA4, COD MW3 and all new . Also i am a DJ and sometimes i use laptop in club. I decided to change the cpu from i5-460M to i7-740QM . Is it worth it? I have the i7-740QM for 100$. Also i would like to extend ram, but idk what is the maximum for the motherboard. I guess it should be at least 8gb.

    Here is the compare:

And yeah, is it even possible to change GPU on this laptop? If yes, then where i can buy better one? Sorry for my english, i am from Poland.

    Thanks in advice,
    alveos

That setup is extremely similar to what my XPS15 was, unfortunately it is just far too underpowered to be able to run any modern games on anything above low settings, hence the 150EM purchase. My advice is to save the money and purchase something with AT LEAST a 650m in it you plan on doing any sort of mo.dern gaming above low-medium/

The 420m is actually similar in speed to the HD4000 if memory serves me correctly so that's something else to keep in mind also if you insist on upgrading the cpu.............also the acer is a consumer grade laptop so its gpu is soldered to the motherboard making it non-removable.

    Hey,
Thanks for reply. So is it worth it to change the i5 to the i7 one? Will i see big difference in speed?
