Hi,
One of the cores on my Laptop's CPU has stopped working. I disabled the second core on the CPU from Device Manager in Safe Startup mode so the laptop still works pretty well but it is noticeably slower. So I am ready to spend some money to upgrade the CPU but I don't want to get the wrong one. I have searched a few topics and I believe the best choice for my upgrade is:
Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T8300
But I would love someone to confirm it will work. Here is some info from CPU-Z:
Processor 1 ID = 0
Number of cores 2 (max 2)
Number of threads 2 (max 2)

T9500, or T9300 whichever comes cheaper, the difference is only 100MHz. Then comes X9000, but you'll be pushing your poor cooling over its capabilities, unless you undervolt it, but then there's no point of having an Xtreme CPU, not to mention the price. You'll need thermal paste, no matter which CPU you end-up with. In the mean time you could check the new(er) machines
Good luck!

Firstly, I made a typo in my OP, I mistakenly put the name of my current processor instead of the CPU I was thinking of buying (corrected now)!
Thanks for your reply but at the moment I don't have the confidence to say that any of these CPU's will work with my laptop. Are you saying they definately will? From reading around it seems the Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T8300 is the best "bang for the buck" but perhaps I have outdated info. For comparison, it seems I can get one from Amazon for around £40. -
Yes, they will work. Yes, T8300 WAS the best bang for buck, not sure how it is now, but £40 is WAY too much for it. Try eBay, and check the other CPUs (T9300 and T9500). Good luck!

Maybe your problem is related to the Nec Tokin capacitor. Search for the solution and try the repair first.
Good luck
