    Is this your budget?
Because I don't think it's better than the one you have right now. It doesn't look like to have any dedicated graphic card so yours has better CPU and GPU. The acer one has better screen though. You can find some better configurations in Acer Direct laptops 8930G

If you guys did a little digging, you'd see that this machine is model number LX.ASY0X.442, which does indeed have a GeForce 9600M GT GDDR3. (come on guys - they won't sell a G model without a GPU!)

Is the 9600m GT better than the 8600m GT?

The added bandwidth that GDDR3 provides over DDR2 video memory gives you a decent boost in performance - go take a look at Notebookcheck's benchmarks for an idea of how much better it'll be.

I'd estimate the 9600M GT GDDR3 to be about 25% better on average than the 8600M GT DDR2.

Not sure. If you wanted full details, you'd be looking at a 9800M GS, at least.

For that high res, yeah you want a 256-bit card. GTA IV relies heavily on the CPU too, a quad core is recommended (Q9000 is good enough).
