Can anyone tell me how to access the memory on the above notebook. The notebook came with only one Gig.and Windows Vista Premium installed which is why I need to upgrade, but I have been unable to open. removed screw from memory compartment to no avail. I then removed all screws to hard drive compartment and was still unable to open case. As this is a new notebook I did not want to force anything. Can anyone help.

    Hi JJHARPER,

I just bought one of these at auction. I, too, would like to know about any service information, etc. for the Acer Extensa 5620 model EX5620-6830.

Please post or PM if you have a service manual or know of a compatible design (component locations and access).

    Thanks!

I just rec'd the Extensa 5620-4025 and have the same problem. The manual indicated and shows a memory compartment on the bottom side of the unit. The only section I see is opened by removing 6 screws. This would release more than half of the underside.

So how does one add to this and where is the opening??

That is the one. Unscrew the 6 screws, and use a small flat head screwdriver to pry the plastic cover off. Their are some small plastic snaps which line the plastic compartment, which hold the panel on. SImply pry it off gently, and you will gain access to the inside of your laptop.

If the memory is not there, you may have to take the laptop apart, by removing the keyboard.
Memory is generally located under the keyboard, or on the base on all laptops. On lenovo/IBM's the memory is usually under the touchpad/palmrest.
