I've had Acer Ferrari 4005 for almost half a year and while being happy with the machine overall, I have gotten completely frustrated with the screen quality. While figuring out how to sell it, a thought crossed my mind: can I just change the screen?
Ideally, I would like to get an IPS matrix screen with lower resolution (perhaps, 1280x768).
Does anyone know how realistic that would be and the cost involved?

These acts void the warranty,
Can you buy and cope with an external monitor? -
That's the first thing I did when the laptop arrived and I realized how crappy the screen is: got an external Flatron L2000C. Unfortunately, it's not a complete solution because I do have a need for certain amount of mobility.

Oh,Contact the support (they might do it (for a price))

So far, the only IPS screens I've seen are standard ratio.
Not only that, your screen has to have the same voltage and connection - check out http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=39713&highlight=screen+upgrade+lcd
