My friend dropped his Acer Aspire 3634 and the screen broke. The screen is a 15.4 WXGA-CRYSTAL BRITE TFT LCD display.

I have worked alot with desktop hardware, but never changed a laptop screen. I have checked some sites on how to change laptop screen, it look's easy to do, so I don't think I would have any problem doing it.

    My question:
Obviously, I need a replacement screen, the first place I started looking was Ebay. Now, I have come across a screen, BUT it is a 1 5.4" TFT Screen for Acer Travelmate 4650. Does it make a difference? I mean it is 15.4'' so I would guess it will work, and it is Acer.

    • Can I purchase that screen? If not, which screens will be "compatible" with my mates laptop.
    • If it says WXGA it probably means Wide screen? SO obviously I need to get a Wide screen.
    • Also it was MATT screen, must it be replaced with MATT or can it be GLOSS?
    • Also, resolution wise, I don't know what the specs was, but does it matter if it's the same or not, example 1024x768 etc..

    Sorry for so many questions!!

Thank you for your help and advice! Any other advice/knowledge in regards to above are welcome!

EDIT: I noted that on the laptop it says Acer Aspire 3634, but on the screen it says Acer Aspire 3630, any reason?
