Hello All,
I've got an Acer 3003-Wlmi laptop that's already a couple of years old now. I'm very pleased with it, so instead of replacing it, I just want to upgrade the memory to 2GB (2x1GB sticks). Problem is, PC-2700 333mhz SO-DIMM RAM costs alot. I can get a very good deal on PC - 3200 400mhz. My question is, can I install this into my laptop? I've been told that if your MB allows underclocking, then it can be done, but I can't find, or don't know where to look for this info. From what I can tell, some other sites have said I have the SiS 760GX chipset, and I think it's the ZL5 motherboard.
Thanks in advance, any and all help is appreciated.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I don't think your board needs to specifically "allow underclocking" for the PC3200 DIMM to downclock itself. If it works on some of my really old Dells, there's no reason it shouldn't work on your Acer.

Yeah, your mobo will automatically downclock it to the 333MHz speed. What cpu do you have, because I know AMD systems can be made to run at 400MHz by using a simple program called A64Tweaker.
I had the bigger version of your machine (Aspire 5002) with the Turion 64 processor. I installed all pc3200 ram and using that program got them to run at 400MHz instead.
