My brother has an old Travelmate 2300. I has a Celeron M340 at 1.5 ghz, 512 mb RAM and a Intel 855GM chipset (pretty much Centrino Carmel, exept for the CPU).

Does the MB support all 400 mt/s socket 479 CPU´s or are there exeptions? And whats the largest memory module that can be used? 1 or 2 gb?

The TM2300 has an 852GM chipset.
    It'll support upto 2GB DDR-333....
I know the TM4000/4500 support the Pentium M Dothans (7x5), so you could probably try out a cheap M 7x5 in your notebook, and update the BIOS to the latest version before upgrading, since the 3 notebooks are likely to share the same BIOS.

cpuz says 855GM or GME. Maximum memory clock seems to be 166 mhz, indicating a GME.

A M 7x5 sounds really good. Compared to whats in it now.

I am not sure which chipset your notebook has.

The Documentation states that it is an 852GM (for the TM2300)....

Now according to the 852GM datasheet, Pentium Ms are not supported, and max memory is 1GB.

Also, could you let me know that how many memory modules are installed, and the module specs.

Could you also see the Motherboard No. printed on the Ram Bay Sticker.

The one that may start with LB or MB.

You could also run Everest Ultimate or PC Wizard 2008 to get some good info regarding the chipset....
