    HI

I have an old Acer Travelmate c302xmi. If I want to upgrade to the newest bios-version, what will then be the most correct way to do it? Does anyone here have done it with succes?
    TIA

Try going to their site and get the most up to date driver while running your current set-up..

Unless there is a (specific) need for a BIOS update, I recommend against it.

    cheers ...

Acer does not offer BIOS upgrades on their USA webite. However if I remember correctly they offer the BIOS files for download on the Acer page for the United Kingdom

For upgrading the BIOS, there are generally four ways to do this:
    1) bios updating online, I have only seen ASUS, and Gigabyte offer this option for upgrading the BIOS. I would not recommend this option, because if windows crashes, your BIOS will most become corrupt in the updating process
    2) Update through CD/DVD. Most manufacturers provide an ISO, which you can burn with NERO in order to make a bootable disc to update the BIOS from. I know Dell and Lenovo/IBM offer this. I havent checked other manufacturers to see if they do
    3) Update through USB drive - This is the best way in my opinion. It is fast and it works, given your system can boot to a USB device.
Please read ZFACTOR's guide to making a bootable USB card:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=246530
    4) Updating through floppy drive. This is the most proven way to upgrade the BIOS. It always works, and it never fails (unless your floppy drive is flaky). Simply load the file to the disc and you are all set.

Please note that when updating the BIOS, you will have to set the BOOT order to the primary device you want to boot from.
ex: if you want to boot from a cd, go into the BIOS and set the primary boot device as the optical drive

    Good luck,
