Hi there, I'm new to this forum, but I have a bit of a challenge for anyone interested.
I have an Acer Travelmate 526iTX laptop. It usuallu comes with a 14" display. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, my screen cracked from corner to corner. The only spare screen I could get my hands on was a 13" screen from and Acer Travelmate 520IT.
I have frankensteined the 13" screen into the 14" recess and it seems to be working.
My only problem is, that I can not get my whole display on the screen, it will display from the top left of my desktop, so I cannot access a strip down the right hand side and along the bottom. I have tried all different driver upgrades (even the display driver for the 520IT) and all different resolutions, but to no avail.
It is usable at the moment, but my desktop acreage is limited, and I cannot access my system tray i.e. clock, running processes etc even after putting my taskbar up the left hand side.
Any help would be appreciated.

Wow...
Gotta say, good job on the surgery!
I'd look to buy another LCD off eBay or something...
Can't help you on the drivers though, sorry. -

Have you tried setting a different resolution? That might help - try "centering" the display - as in, it doesn't stretch a non-native resolution across the screen, it uses the center portion of the display.
Yeah - good job on surgery! -
Thanks for the compliments, guys.
I have tried everything I can with the resolution, (don't exactly know how to "centre" the desktop, Chazman), but nothing has helped.
Also, a strange thing is that in the advanced properties of the display settings, you can pick the monitor (i.e. Generic Television, Digital Flat Panel (1024x768), Default Monitor), but whenever you choose a different display, the "Apply" button does not become available to press. -

Hm...that's really tough then..have you thought about getting an external monitor? You could use that no-problem.

Yeah, I've been using my 17" CRT upstairs at the moment, I'm just waiting until LCD's come down to peasant prices. Hey, I shouldn't be grumbling, as I've gotten this far already.
Nothing's perfect, eh? -

That's right - can't have everything, and never will.
So, how much are the screens that your notebook came with? You could always try that...and if you can't find them anywhere, try asking Acer how much it would cost.
