    Hi
I have a acer aspire 5720z laptop with no sound, i know the speakers are alright but there is no sound from them or the headphone socket so i assume there is a problem with the motherboard has anybody know of any other things that could be wrong or know any other way to get some sound.

I think what he meant was that sometimes drivers from different applications clash. A basic check is to simply reinstall the audio drivers properly and see if the problem is fixed. If not, then driver is not the issue.

Also go to "Sound" > "Playback Devices" by right-clicking the speaker icon on the system tray or from control panel > hardware and sound > sound

    Capture Sound.png

Right-click on a blank space make sure that disabled and disconnected devices are shown.
There should be a green check mark on "Speakers" or something like that. If not, right click and "Set as Default". Right-click and do "Test".

These are just some basic steps I know. If it doesn't help, post your screenshot here.

    Good luck!
