I am looking for adapters that allow you to run a dual core cpu on a socket 478? I have a Pentium 4 that I will be using till next year. I am a little impatient and would like to know if I could run a dual core cpu on this old laptop. It currently uses a desktop Pentium 4, so I am wondering if some thing like THIS would work( not that one since I have a Dell motherboard)? Maybe not since Dell would have to upgrade the Bios?

That's a Socket 479 adapter for specific (usually ASUS branded) desktop 478 boards. First, it won't even physically fit in a laptop and second, Socket 479 only supports Pentium M and associated Celerons. There is no adapter that I know of that will let you put a dual core processor on a laptop Socket 478.
