Hey guys,
Was using my laptop today, and talking on skype and I didn't realise that the adaptor and turned off and that I was running on battery. I only found out when it turned off.
Anyway, when I tried to turn it back on nothing would happen
Normally plugging in the adaptor causes the blue line to appear, but in this case nothing would happen.
I tried different plugs in my dorm, but couldn't get it to work.
I made some videos to show what happens:
With no battery in the laptop
The charger seems normal when plugged into mains, and the LED is normal. Plugging it into the laptop causes the blue line (video will clarify) to light up which does when adaptor works and power coming to laptop, but hitting the power button causes the blue line to switch off and adaptor LED to start flickering like mad. The laptop also doesn't switch on.

With battery:
In this case something weird happens. The same as above when the power button is pressed, but the charging light also goes on (indicating charging) then off almost instantly.

This is a close up of the adaptor flickering, sorry about the bad close ups, its my phone (but still 720)

I hope its just the adaptor and not the laptop itself.
Will try to grab my friend's charger later and try it with my laptop but not sure if a timeline charger will be compatible. Will update once I test.
With regards to the replacement adaptor, all the ones I see on ebay are fake, and I don't know where else to look, do you guys think these will be ok (doubt it)?
Possible replacement chargers (ebay)
Hope you guys can help me out, since I am out a pc at the moment and need to come into campus to use the pcs here -__-
Thanks

It sounds like the power adapter is having problems supplying adequate power to the laptop when it is powered on; this can be due to a number of issues, such as degraded capacitors. If you try turning on the laptop with the battery and adapter plugged in, the power draw on the adapter is further increased because the battery must be charged.
Fake replacement parts from China are rampant on eBay. Although they're temptingly cheap, they are also of low quality if not defective altogether. I'd recommend paying the extra money for a genuine part from the manufacturer.
PS; thanks for providing such thorough information on your issue, its very helpful. -
Thanks for the reply, I was thinking along the same lines. Tested the laptop with a friend's charger and it's fine so the issue is confirmed to be with the charger.
I also have no want of a fake adaptor, as all those on ebay are.
Currently looking for an authentic one.
I will hopefully be able to get one from the OEM.
Will keep the thread posted
Glad it helped -
You could also get one from newegg or another reseller that offers reliable equipment. As long as it's the same voltage and the amperage is either the same or higher, you'll be fine.
Adaptor messed up/blown or laptop itself? :S
