I have a few HP Mini 2133's and 2140's and bought a few bluetooth modules off ebay for cheap (like a few bucks a piece). They came with cables that have the correct connector for plugging into the first 2140 that I tried. I have a pdf file (Maintenance and Service Guide) for the 2133/2140 that says the module P/N is 398393-002. What I bought off ebay is 397923-002 and is listed for a bunch of HP computers - but not necessarily for the Mini's.
After putting the mini back together and powering up Windows (7), and going into device manager / search for added hardward, there is no indication that the module is being detected. There is nothing in the bios that mentions bluetooth or the module in any way (as in enable/disable, etc).
So my questions are:
1) even though my bluetooth module cable does plug into the motherboard connector, are these modules not interchangeable? Or do I really need the exact module 398393-002 ?
2) should a bluetooth entry appear in the BIOS if the module is detected at boot time?
3) what exactly is the multi-wire interface being used to connect the module to the motherboard? Seems to have more wires than is possible for USB.
4) in searching for anything relating to BIOS, Bluetooth and HP Mini 2133/2140, I came across the mention of sp43583.exe ( System BIOS upgrade for notebook models with a 68DGU Family ROM). Should I apply this to my Mininote 2140?
5) should I post (or re-post) these questions in the HP forum on this site?

Wild guess:
Install wireless connection manager and use it to power on bt module, then it should install drivers.
Added bluetooth module to HP mini 2140 - not being seen by Windows
