Hey, I have a Dell i1705, and I would like to add some RAM. I do not know what brand of RAM I already have, but would the newly purchased RAM have to be the same brand?

No, they don't have to match. If you stay with a quality brand you won't have any trouble. I recommend Crucial, Kingston, Kingmax and Corsair.

Just get DDR2 ram with 667MHz speed. The brand doesn't matter as much. Just make sure it has a life time warrenty incase it goes bad. I got my ram from www.newegg.com. They have some of the best prices.
