Adding Wifi + BT internal card to DV2120US?

Does anyone know if this is possible? I've got a smartphone w/bluetooth, and I'd LOVE to not have to use a USB cable to keep them synced. Unfortunately, my machine came pre-configured (bought @ Staples), so I couldn't opt for the WiFi + BT card. I just called HP, and they said they don't sell the card itself, and they won't let me ship the laptop to them to have it upgraded.

Does anyone know where I can pick up a compatible 802.11b/g (a/b/g is acceptable) with Bluetooth? Since HP offers different configurations, I can't imagine this component isn't upgradeable, but I just need to know where to pick up the part!

I think you are talking about the combo MiniPCI WIFI & Bluetooth. If so, there is no such card on HP notebooks, only MSI notebooks.

why not get urself a bluetooth usb adapter that would help u sync ur phone with ur laptop wirelessly about the wireless i guess u could use a pcmcia card but i aint sure about it though but those usb bluetooths are quite cheap too

 

Unless the bt card is soldered to the motherboard, its theoretically possible. Be prepared for 5 hours of work, time finding the piece and a voided warranty. USB is a better option.

 

Sorry, I guess I should have been more clear ... my laptop has an 802.11b/g wifi card built-in. If I custom-configured a dv2000 on hp.com, I could opt for the 802.11a/b/g + bluetooth card. However, because I bought it pre-configured, I was stuck with the b/g card. Thus, I called HP to see if they would sell me the 802.11a/b/g + BT that's available in custom machines on their website, but they won't sell just that part. They also will not allow me to send the laptop in to them and have them swap out the 802.11a/b/g+BT for the 802.11b/g that I have already installed.

So I was looking for an aftermarket supplier of the 802.11a/b/g+BT so I could buy it and install it myself. Been taking apart and re-building laptops and desktops for years, so I'm not concerned about that part of it, I just need to know where to find the part! Any leads?

 

OK, In my experience with both HP and Asus, and I'm sure most every other company, the BT card is separate from the Wifi Card, but they list it as 802.11 b/g+Bluetooth. In my old laptop the bluetooth went into the battery bay. I doubt, as someone else said, that this is a combined card...so, it should be just the bluetooth chip, check eBay.

 

Good point ... after further research, I understand what folks have been saying, there is no card "a/b/g + bluetooth", there is "a/b/g card AND bluetooth card".

If my wifi card is taking up my minipci slot, what do I have available for an internal bluetooth card? Does anyone have a dv2000t with internal a/b/g and bluetooth? has this person taken the initiative to open their laptop up and see how they integrate the bluetooth? Bueller? Bueller??
