I'm big on battery life. I have a 512 DDR2 PC24300 stick. How much will my battery life be affected by adding another 1 gig stick?

Marginal if any. I suppose in theory you are swapping to the hard drive less.

I agree with Zaz, all RAM takes 1.8v I think, so any savings would be in swapping less which is hardly anything if anything at all!

While it is true that if you were using one stick of ram, that adding a second would use up some more energy, that energy really does not amount to very much.
Ram does use roughly 1.8 volts, but what really matters is how much watts it uses not the volts, and although I don't have a current figure to give, it does not use much, very low really. To give a rough idea, this is from a long time ago... as I said I don't have current figure for the current generation of RAM... but 32 MB stick of SDRAM uses approximately 0.12 watts while a 64 MB stick of SDRAM uses approximately 0.13 watts. (Number obtained from Crucial)
As Zaz and radditz has said, it generally is corrrect that your hard drive should be used less (less swapping).
Adding extra memory, battery life affected?
