    Hello everyone,
I wonder if I can add a memory stick of 1 Gb or 2Gb to my laptop. I have a Toshiba Satellite A75-S209 with 512Mb memory that it looks to be built on the motherboard. It is only one memory slot available and I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me please?

Thanks and God bless You All!

Pretty much all modern laptops have 2 slots of memory.

I really doubt it's built in, it just looks that way.

You should be able to easily stick in a 1gb in the empty slot, or take out the 512 and add 2 sticks.

Check here first. They are pretty good and you know it will work.

Not all boards have both slots enabled. Toshiba shouldn't be a problem but some (like Avertec) are bad about this.

Accoring that the site you can install up to 1GB of DDR333 or DDR266 memory.
But I suggest you use 1GB of DDR333 memory because it brings the best performance.(You're right the first 512MB is soldered and cannot be removed, hence the maximum supported memory is 1.5GB).Also the first 512MB is DDR333 and it's best if the second module is DDR333 too, since it bring the best performance.
    Good luck with your upgrade.

As mujtaba posts, you can only upgrade to 1.5GB ram (from Toshiba site). Your existing ram looks to be PC2700 DDR333, so match it for best performance.
