Hi there. I'm looking for information on how to adjust the spin time of my Thinkpad dvd-rw drive. During movie playback the drive spins up and down every 5 seconds or so, which can be annoying. I haven't been able to find a device manager option for adjusting the spin down time. Anywhere else I should be looking? Also any software recommendations for this adjustment?

    Thanks.

Yeah, my laptop also came with 'cd/dvd drive acoustic silencer', though i never use it. I already have a program suit that offers the same function. Look into the nero suit. I have Nero 7 premium, and one of the apps in the 'extra' tab is "Nero drive speed".

Ultra simple layout. Lets you slow down your optical drive(if you are just watching a DVD movie and are on battery, no point in having the thing run at 8x, making all that noise and wasting all that energy) and, specifically what you asked for, a spin down time.
