I have a Toshiba L355-S7905 that I am looking to get a little more use of, I have been looking at cpu upgrades. Just did a hd upgrade.

I would like to put in a chip that won't exceed the poor laptops potential. Could I get some advice? I would be most appreciative.

Pardon my spelling I am exhausted and lazy tonite.

I have the exact same laptop. I use it for running karaoke shows, so I needed to have a bit more power because I was running external video(the integrated video card sucks). I checked out some bench tests online and a few other sites. I ended up getting a used Intel Pentium T3400 on Ebay($50-$60 at the time) about a year ago and installed it with no issues. Just be careful buying from Ebay...reputable sellers only. By the way, this processor is a dual core running at 2.16GHz....667MHz bus speed...the old one is single core. You may need to flash your BIOS, but I don't think so. This is the same processor that was in the L355-S7902....which I think even uses the same motherboard. A friend of mine had one....basic computer is the same as mine...there were just a few extras...a little higher end, I think.

One thing I forgot to mention....there may be some even faster processors you can use. I've just not tried them yet. These Toshiba's have the GL40 chipset in them...which can run up to 800MHz on the bus speed. The socket for the processor is a P socket. The Intel Pentium T4500 is the fastest one I see that fits those specs. It's a dual core running at 2.3GHz with a 800MHz front bus speed. Now that noticed that I may have to try it myself....lol. The price is pretty close to the one I bought on Ebay the last time.

Don't forget to clean off the old thermal paste when you switch them out and apply new paste. People always forget that and end up overheating the processor.

I also have the Toshiba L355-S7905, was never much of a Celeron Processor fan but the laptop was free so here's what I did, I just received a new Intel Pentium dual core T4500 from a trusted eBay seller and it works just fine recognized it right away with no BIOS upgrade, also installed a Western Digital Scorpio Black 320 gig 7200 rpm HD to top it off and I've got a quick little laptop, hope this info helps.
