Ok after 3 months of looking for a new 18.4 screen for my Acer 8930-6448 I finally found one. But after taking the old screen out the new one will not work. I tried Fn-F5 but it only shows one monitor attached to it and that is the external monitor I am currently using for my laptop. It won't allow me to select to onboard monitor at all. I obviously have something wrong but I don't know what can someone help me please?

Is the new screen plug and play? Do I need to install anything? I replaced the monitor with the exact same model number that was shipped with it.

    Ben

The more I get into this the more I get confused. I just checked the Nvidia display properties and it only shows the external monitor I am connected to and after selecting rigorous display checking it still won't find my onboard display.

What about putting all the resolution to minimum as possible just to ensure that its compatiable. Change ur resolution to 800X600 or 1024X768 maybe and restart and see how it works.
    Update it.

Keep it simple first. Recheck your connections.

    Why not check your connections?

so far I have tried all the suggestions and none of them work so tonight I am going to plug in the brokem screen to see if it powers up to make sure I am getting power and video to the monitor and to be sure the new lcd isn't broken.

Ok I went and re-checked everything for a third time and found a loose wire tightened it up and everything works terrific. Thanks you guys and gals on here so much for the support I now have my laptop back and I appreciate the help.
