I've successfully installed the T8300 to take over the T5450, i think my application was reasonably successful, as my temps hover around 18 C.
As for the performance gain, im really not seeing significant framerate increase, perhaps 8-10 frames at the most, although the frame rate no longer dips during high intensity actions ( Explosions, massive ragdoll action). Is this how its supposed to be? or will i get better performance out of it after the passage of some time? As i went from a T5450 from a T8300 expecting somewhat of a decent framerate increase in games such as far cry 2 and crysis.

I think games are more dependable on GPU then CPU.

18 degrees Celsius on a CPU temp??! That a first!

Bodes well for my upgrade to a T8300 today or tomorrow.

What are your notebook specs - specifically the GPU? Most games are primarily GPU limited, so it probably won't make a big difference for most games.

Okay, the GPU is definitely not a bottleneck unless you game at 1900x1200, and even then only on more demanding games. So it is likely that on games that shift a lot of intensive physics and other calculations to the CPU you will see a benefit. However I suspect that it may not be a majoy change for most games.

well i suppose the change is actually pretty good, as whenever i played Crysis with the t5450, which has tons of physics in what not, id hit the single digits, but now the frame knockback is only about 2-3 frames providing a much more stable gaming experience.

Nice! I just got my T8300 today, so once I've double- and triple-checked that all my data is safely aboard my external drive, I'll proceed with the installation of the CPU and clean re-install of Vista.

    T8300 FTW!
I upgraded from a T5450 as well. My video encoding times are 1/2 to 1/3 what they used to be.

you know there is no reason to reinstall OS when changing the cpu ?
just go to the device manager and uninstall the cpu (both cores), next boot it will be recognized as a t8300.

That sounds like a very good improvement in gaming performance.

However, your CPU temp cannot be correct unless the room you are in is less than 18C; in which case I would think that you live in a walk-in frigidaire.

I recommend using a program like CoreTemp.
