I'm purchasing an ASUS G75 gaming laptop that only comes with a standard DVD optical drive, and I want to upgrade it to a bluray drive if possible. I've looked around, but because I've never done this before I have no idea where to buy internal laptop OD's.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. :)

The optical drives used in notebooks are pretty standardized, as far as size and shape goes. Something like this should work, though some Bluray drives might not come with the software required to read the discs (so that could be another ~$70 or so).

You may need to swap the bezel, if the notebook uses something beveled. Most bezels just slide off (upwards, I think) while the tray is ejected.

Always start with the big boys: Amazon and Newegg. They both sell internal as well as external blu-ray burners. Take care though, they're not all created equal. I'd look for reputable manufacturers like Panasonic, Pioneer and/or LG if I were you.

They also come in three distinct flavors: the BR player only, 2) player/burner, and if you're really intrepid, 3) player/XL burner.
Software sold separately is a good bet. I'd go with Cyberlinks if you want the best.
