Hi there,
Purchasing a Dell 1530 this Thursday.
I've tried to search, but I haven't been able to find an answer to this question.
I want to do the smart thing, and not buy extra RAM from Dell... Over here in Australia at the moment, dell charges $150 bucks for 1 GB of RAM.
I can buy, flat out, 4 GB's of RAM for $140. Corsair Value Select.
So I was going to purchase said RAM, and then turn around and sell the orignal DELL RAM, and celebrate.
I'm worried about Warranty issues though. How do you folks, who aftermarket upgrade, deal with this? Hold onto your orignal RAM, until your warranty is over? Simply pop them back in, if their is a issue, and hope Dell doesn't notice?
I only have a 1 year warranty, so this isn't too long... Wouldn't mind selling the RAM though, and shaving another $80 or so dollars off the price.
Cheers =)

Yes, you should keep your original RAM so that if you do need to send the laptop back, you can re-swap it and they would never know,

But you don't have to hold onto as you are allowed to upgrade your RAM. Unless the RAM is the cause of the problem the warranty still applies. If the RAM is the problem you send that back to the retailer you bought from.

Really? That's fantastic!
