    Aftermarket battery doesn't charge with Acer 5738G - Ideas ? Bios mod maybe ?

    Dear all,

    I just bought an aftermarket Li-Ion battery pack for my parents' Acer Aspire 5738G. Capacity is bigger than original but according to the (by te way very fair) seller this should work with the 5738G.

    Part number is AS09A70 an is of 8800 mAh type.

    Is there any kind of BIOS mod to make this laptop charge the battery ? Windows 7 tells me there's no battery in the laptop at all, so the machine now works via AC power only. (It worked on battery in non-recognized mode for about 20 minutes, this is normal I think).

    Seller suggested to update BIOS to the latest version, now I'm at 1.32 but didn't help.

    Return that battery for a RMA and this time find one that matches the your original battery part number. Most likely that battery was made for another Acer model but isn't compatible with your current model. They may say it works but they don't test it on all laptops to see if it works with that model and make. So RMA and refund and find one that matches more closer to the original part number and go with that. Otherwise your left going and ordering one from Acer that matches up to your Acer 5738G laptop.
