Hi guys, I've FINALLY ordered my M18x from Hong Kong and I picked the option of 256GB SSD + 1TB 5400 RPM Hard Disk. Does anyone know the brand of the SSD they are putting in the R2's? If they are putting in some of their own (Dell Manufactured) , can they hold their own against other good SSD's like Samsung Pro 840, etc.? What about the Hard Drive? Is it any good? If not, please suggest a good one. Finally, if not I believe there are 3 slots for hard drives or something and I can easily purchase a new SSD and put it in along with the stock ssd and hard drive. Am I wrong? Is there only one port for SSD or something like that? If buy another SSD or HD I would like to put it in with the other disks. Please advise me on this although this is not urgent but the period between the ordering and recieving the laptop is soooooo excruciating! I want to know everything and be prepared for my baby :)

    Thanks in advance!

Dell doesn't make their own SSDs, as far as I can tell, chances are the SSD will be either a Samsung or a Crucial drive. The HDD will either be a Seagate or Western Digital so again, reputable brands.

I can't advise you as to what HDD/SDD they will ship.

I can tell you about your HDD options. You have a HDD Caddy that can fit 3 x HDD/SDD slots + a mSata Slot located elsewhere. You can have a total of 4 HDD/SDD's you can install without a fuss. You can even go beyond this is you are really keen.
You are better off saving abit of coin and ordering whatever HDD/SDD's your heart desires and putting them in yourself.

I agree completely with TBoneSan. Order your Alienware from Dell with the cheapest HDD config and buy and install SSD's and other storage drives yourself!
