    Hello,

Can someone point me to where I can purchase a replacement DVD rom for my M7700. Alienware's prices are a bit steep.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

The M7700 is based on the Clevo D900T/D900K chassis.
It accepts two 12.7mm thick optical drives using the ATAPI interface.

Alienware is a rip off when it comes to most everything, so you can buy the drives separately.

The Pioneer DVR-K17 is a great tray loading drive,
and the Pioneer DVR-K06 is a great slot loading drive.

I adcise not using a slot loading drive in the lower optical drive bay.
Reasone being, I own the same laptop.
When you go to move the laptop I usually pickp up the system around the mid section.
This does put pressure on the lower part of the bottom optical drive, which does cause the drive to jam.

Other drives to look for are TSST and Panasonic drives.
The UJ panasonic drives are good.
I believe the model is UJ-834, but I am not sure.

I have both Pioneers mentioned and they have lasted very long and never gave me any problems.
I bought mine through zipzoomfly and meritline a while back, so I am not sure if they still sell them.
I know you can buy the drives direct through Pioneer if you like.
