I'm wondering how the Alienware screens compare the Clevo screens. Specifically, how does the 1080p screen in the m17x compare to the high gamut screens in the p170em? Also, how hard is it to upgrade the screens yourself in the AW's?

    Thanks for any responses.

The high gamut screens are definitely better. Alienware screens are pretty difficult to upgrade I've heard.

If you are a matte lover... Clevo ftw. Matte screen is absolutely brilliant.

Some MSI resellers offer the same screens, also I think there are high gamut glossy screens offered.

Well, the AW screens are anti-glare but are located under the glossy protection glass. They should be 72% NTSC (for M17x model) but almost impossible to be switched to a better display (only for real technicians, it voids the warranty and can damage you computer). On the other hand Sager have some poor (average) 60% NTSC screens at stock which are very easy removable. Picking up some nice 72% NTSC Matte or 90% NTSC Glossy screen will make you love your beast even more!

Also it is preferable to calibrate 72%+ Color Gamut displays for even better viewing experience)

    Actually, they don't.

The EM uses a much higher quality than the launch HM which you posted.

Thanks for the responses. I'll check out the MSI screens on top of the other two. If it's true that the m17x uses a 72% NTSC screen this just made my decision even harder. I guess it's not so bad to have too many great options, though.
